Step right into a sunny afternoon in the Magic Kingdom and enjoy the full Festival of Fantasy parade in 4K! With magnificent floats, endless Disney characters, and the spectacular fire-breathing Maleficent dragon, this parade is not to be missed...especially since it is the only current full length Disney parade in Walt Disney World!

Adventure Friends Cavalcade from Magic Kingdom in 4K

Joe Darthmaz brings you back to Main Street USA at the Magic Kingdom to enjoy the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade in 4K.

I am not too sure what the collection of characters in this cavalcade has in common other than "adventure"...what!? However, this cavalcade features an earworm of a song that is hard to shake.

So "vamos" (you'll get it after you watch it) and join in the "adventure?"

Retro Walt Disney World: Magic Kingdom Souvenir DVD 2003

The  @JoeDarthmaz  channel digs into the archives to bring you the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom Souvenir video from 2003. This DVD was sold in the parks as sort of video snapshot of your visit to Magic Kingdom. It was as if Disney videographers had taken a vacation video for you, complete with professional video work, character appearances, and fancy editing. The only thing missing from the video was you.

With all the changes to the Walt Disney World parks in the decade that has passed, watching these videos today is truly a step back through time. For instance, the Magic Kingdom video tours through a park that still has Mickey's Toontown and Splash Mountain, but has no Seven Dwarfs mine Train, Be Our Guest Restaurant, Journey of the Little Mermaid, and more because New Fantasyland was not yet built.

@JoeDarthmaz  purchased all four of the park videos back in the day, so visit our channel in the future to see the Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom editions.

If you like this video, please consider giving it a “thumbs up.” This really helps others find the channel and our content. Feel free to leave a comment about your favorite memories or with suggestions for future videos.

Sam Eagle's Safety Instructions from Muppet Vision 3D at Disney's Hollyw...

Who doesn't love Muppet Vision 3D from Disney's Hollywood Studios? This interactive experience merges 3D film, animatronics, 4D theater effects, live actors, and Disney Magic and wraps it all into a blanket of Muppet fun and humor, making it impossible to not leave the theater smiling from ear to ear.

But before you even enter the theater itself, you experience the pre-show, which some claim is one of Disney's best ever. It is decades old now and not necessarily a technological wonder, which is more a hallmark of recent pre-shows, but it is filled with the warmth, wit, and humor that is the calling card of the Muppet franchise.

There are so many segments of the pre-show that have become iconic and quotable to Disney Parks fans over the years. One such segment is brought to you hear by Joe Darthmaz. Sam Eagle's safety instructions features the always stoic straight man, Sam Eagle as well as other Muppet friends, including Rizzo the Rat impersonating another well know rodent...hmmm. This portion of the pre-show is one of my favorites and I hope it will bring a smile to your face, as it always does to mine.

Pixar Character Cavalcade from Disney's Hollywood Studios from Joe Darthmaz on YouTube

Since Walt Disney World re-opened in 2020 from the pandemic closure, parades have sadly been absent from the parks. They were replaced with scaled down mini-parades that Disney named "character cavalcades." These cavalcades were initially unscheduled so as to avoid the gathering of large crowds in an attempt to promote social distancing. While they are not a legitimate replacement for a proper Disney parade, the cavalcades are a nice impromptu piece of character entertainment that can sneak up on you during your park day.

Today, Joe Darthmaz bringing you the second of the cavalcade videos, filmed during our recent trip to Walt Disney World. This video features the Pixar Character Cavalcade from Disney's Hollywood Studios, starring Mr. & Mrs. Incredible, Edna Mode, Sully, Woody, the drumming Green Army Men, and Buzz Lightyear.

The Magic of Disney Animation is Now Closed at Disney Hollywood Studios

On 6/24, darthmaz314's Disney Snapshot of the Day featured the signage display for the Magic of Disney Animation attraction. Little did we know that this attraction would be announced as closing forever a few days later.

The Magic of Disney Animation was an original attraction of the then-named Disney MGM Studios and was situated at the far end of the Animation Courtyard beyond The Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Playhouse Disney. At the time of the attraction's debut, one of the most innovative and unique of its experiences allowed guests to look down on Disney animators as they worked in partially glass-walled offices, eerily bringing to mind some sort of voyeuristic human workplace safari. The attraction was the front end of the actual Walt Disney Animation Studios Orlando division, which turned out some impressive work before its closure in 2004. Some of the most notable work to emanate from the Orlando studios was ink and paint work for The Little Mermaid, the "Be Our Guest" sequence from Beauty and the Beast, the "I Just Can't Wait to be King" sequence from The Lion King, and full production work on the features Brother Bear, Mulan, and Lilo and Stitch. However, as the years passed, any semblance of actual studio production, live action or animated, was slowly extracted from the park but a few of the safari-like animator offices/studio tour elements remained.

The Magic of Disney Animation also featured a short film that examined the process of bringing a Disney animated character to life. In this experience, a cast member interacts with an on-screen incarnation of Eddie Murphy's Mushu the dragon from Mulan, as they comically describe the process of creating an animated character, from the first pencil marks on paper all the way through its explosion on screen as a vibrant and seemingly living creature. The original version of the film featured an animated Robin Williams as the comic relief alongside legendary newsman Walter Kronkite, who functioned as a guide and narrator for guests. In this iteration, Robin Williams is transformed into an animated version of himself as a Lost Boy from Disney's Peter Pan. Williams portrayed an adult Peter Pan in the 1991 Disney film Hook. The Williams/Kronkite version of the attraction film was quite entertaining and endearing and can now be looked back on with great nostalgia, since both men have passed on.

For the those who enjoy a look behind the scenes at the animation process, both films were enjoyable and worth the time, particularly since they provided a respite from the oppressive Orlando heat. For those not wishing to sit through the film, it could be bypassed by walking through the back of the theater and out into the next section of the attraction.

Another major portion of the Magic of Disney Animation attraction was the "Animation Station" area which featured interactive computer consoles that allowed guests to paint animation scenes, try their hand at adding sound effects to a

scene from a Disney film, and play a game called "You're a Character" in which they answer a series of questions to determine which Disney character best represents them. This area was also home to the Animation Academy, which was a scheduled attraction during which guests are given a crash course on creating a character sketch by a Disney animator.

Also featured in the Magic of Disney Animation were several character meet and greet areas, the two most significant featuring Sorcerer Mickey and characters from the most recent Disney/Pixar film. The last area included a waiting queue that was always very cleverly and heavily themed around the featured characters' film.

Lastly, the Magic of Disney Animation pavilion also housed a museum-like section that featured concept art, storyboards, sculpted maquettes, and other story development and promotional materials from a recent Disney or Pixar release. Adjacent to this was another room with a display case that housed Academy Awards won by Walt Disney and the Walt Disney Studios.

While it is true that I am among those extremely excited to see Hollywood Studios revamped and expanded to include a Star Wars Land (and hopefully a version of California's Carsland), I am sad to say goodbye to some of the attractions (like Magic Of Disney Animation) being closed to make room for these changes. This attraction offered a variety of experiences that were uniquely Disney and fit the "behind the curtain" production experience that was once a part of Hollywood Studios concept. It was also a great spot to escape the sauna that is Orlando in summer, while still being entertained in true Disney fashion. An addition, the character meets and greets often featured some of the more rare characters, many of which you would not find anywhere else on property. Some examples I personally have witnessed included Stitch, Jafar, Mulan, Miko the Racoon, the Incredibles, Frozone, Pinocchio, Geppetto, Captain Hook, Smee, the Genie and more.

In fact, one rainy and not so crowded day at Hollywood Studios about five years ago, my family had some of the greatest character interactions ever in the meet and greet area with several of the characters mentioned above, all of

whom were at the top of their games in terms of guest interaction. Particularly memorable, was Stitch, who truly created one of those unforgettable Disney moments for my family, which included wrapping himself around my wife's leg and refusing to let her leave.

The Magic of Disney Animation officially closed on July 12th. It now exists only in our memories and the photos and videos in which we may have captured it over the years. If you have interesting photos of the attraction, feel free to e-mail them to darthmaz314@gmail.com and we may include them in follow-ups to this post.

Check back soon for a follow-up post featuring more of darthmaz314's photos from The Magic of Disney Animation.

In early September, darthmaz314 had the opportunity to attend his first Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) at Walt Disney World. This party is one of the special event offerings that have been such a success at Walt Disney World in recent years. I have personally been trying to make it to this event for quite a while now and scheduling conflicts have prevented from attending for years. This year my visit to Disney happened to coincide with  the very first MNSSHP of the season, which took place on September 1st, a full two months prior to Halloween!  Expectations were high, but as is usually the case, Disney did not disappoint, delivering top notch unique entertainment, that is signature Disney through and through.

As part of our continuing coverage of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, today darthmaz314 brings you HD video of The Boo to You Parade from MNSSHP. This parade, complete with tons of Disney characters, performers, and attraction-inspired floats, is loaded with ghoulish delight, all on a family friendly frequency, so as not to frighten the kiddies.

So if you can't make it to Walt Disney World for the MNSSHP this year, let darthmaz314.com take you there instead! Happy Halloween!

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party nights are in full swing at Walt Disney World and Magic Kingdom's Main Street is decked out in Halloween fashion. Today's Disney Snapshot of the Day features one of the pumpkin scarecrows that greet guests upon entering the park. The not so scary fellow below, who greeted guests for the 2013 Halloween season, was ready to hit the diamond in honor of the October baseball postseason. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party nights run through October 31st.

darthmaz314 Disney Snapshot of the Day - Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy With Their Eyes Closed

Today's Disney Snapshot of the Day today captures something that a few years ago would have been impossible to see, anywhere in the world...Disney characters with their eyes closed. The Cinderella Castle Forecourt stage show rolls out top of the line Disney characters for its daily performances. One of the unique aspects of these characters is that they have eyelids that actually close. As these characters perform throughout the show, you can hear their voices as part of the soundtrack and in an attempt to make them more true to life, they occasionally (or maybe more than occasionally) blink. That may sound great, but when when you are trying to snap photos during the show, it is nearly impossible to catch them all with their eyes open. True to form with my usual rotten luck, I snapped a shot of "the Big Four" with not one, or two, or three, but all four of their eyes closed. I probably couldn't do that again if I tried...so I just may have to on my next trip to Disney.
