Return to the warmth and whimsy
of Ratatouille in one of Walt Disney World's newest trackless dark rides,
Remy's Ratatouille Adventure. A mixture of 3D screen projections and a few
practical sets, this is a clone of the Disneyland Paris attraction of the same
name.
Although unique in concept, this iteration of trackless dark ride was perfected in the Star Wars Rise of the Resistance, the best theme park attraction I personally have ever experienced.
Still, Remy's Ratatouille Adventure is not without its fun and charm. It may be a bit screen heavy, but it includes all of the characters you fell in love with in the film and it delivers enough to bring a smile to even the crabbiest guest's face. It also brings another much-needed attraction to Epcot World Showcase, distracting park goers for a while longer from the free-flowing booze that now permeates the park. You may not want to wait for an hour or more, but if you can keep your wait under that, you should not miss this attraction.
Part of this video are a bit dark, even though it was shot in 4k, due to the low light levels of the ride itself. My apologies.

Walter Elias Disney died in 1966 and to many in modern society, the words Walt Disney are little more than part of a huge media conglomerate's corporate moniker. However, Walt Disney was the source, the heart, the soul, the driving force, and the legend behind so much of what media and more specifically, themed entertainment has become today, almost sixty years after his death.
The Disney Parks, particularly Walt Disney World, have in recent years suffered from a serious drift away from Walt Disney's original vision of what themed entertainment should be and how it should be enjoyed by the public. While it is true that society's tastes and level of sophistication (or lack thereof) have changed and evolved in the decades since his passing, Walt had a unique and accurate assessment of what the public wanted from entertainment, which is why his company, legacy, and ideology have endured for so many years after his death.
One of the last vestiges of Walt Disney's vision and genius is still (thankfully) alive and well in Walt Disney World,. It is called the Walt Disney Carousel of Progress. Originally, presented at the 1964-5 World's Fair in Queens, New York as "Progressland," the Carousel of Progress offered visitors a view of how a fictional family evolves through four generations of technological advancements.
Walt Disney, ever an optimist, futurist, and patriotic American, wholeheartedly believed that human beings could solve many of the problems plaguing society with ingenuity, technology, and gritty hard work and determination. Many of the these themes are present in the Carousel of Progress. In fact, the theater itself was, at the time it debuted, a technological marvel, as it employed a seating area that rotated around a stationary stage depicting four different scenes.
The attraction also features the iconic song "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" from Academy Award winning composers Robert and Richard Sherman, unfortunately abbreviated in the this video to avoid YouTube copyright strikes.
While the last scene is often mocked for its dated look at the future, Carousel of Progress remains a classic and iconic Disney attraction that should not be missed when visiting Walt Disney World and should never be permanently closed.

For generations, one of the nuances that separated Disney
Parks from your run of the mill theme parks were entertainment experiences that
you would just wander into as you plowed through your park day. Although the
cost cutting and monetization of every minute of your day has eliminated many
of these experiences, there are some that still remain.
One of these unique and smile-inducing experiences is the
Casey's Corner Pianist, located on the side of the famous Magic Kingdom quick
service hot dog location. This talented and engaging musician plays
"ragtime tunes from a bygone era," for the enjoyment of the Casey's
Corner patrons dining in the outdoor seating area, as well as any passers by
making their way through the park.
Joe Darthmaz was lucky enough to be passing by when one of
these talented musicians was making magic with his fingers, playing a tune at
an ever-increasing pace, which couldn't help bring a smile to my face.
So, enjoy a taste here at Joe Darthmaz and next time you're
in the Magic Kingdom, take a second to appreciate the remaining
"streetmosphere" entertainment like this that still remains, before
it, like so many others of its kind, are budget cut away forever!

Flight of Passage garners all the attention in Pandora the World of Avatar at Disney's Animal Kingdom and rightly so, as it is one of the top five of all attractions at Walt Disney World. However, there is another attraction in Pandora that also deserves some love.
Na'vi River Journey is a slow moving boat dark ride and will not soon be confused for an e-ticket attraction, but is surely worth your time during a visit to Pandora. This ride contains a trip through elaborately themed caves and the Na'vi bioluminescent forest, culminating in an encounter with the legendary Shaman of Songs, one of Disney's most advanced and impressive animatronics.
This is not an attraction you want to wait an hour in line for, because you will likely not feel that the payoff was worth the wait. However, at 25-30 minute wait times, you should not miss the Na'vi River Journey.
And you will not be able to carve the Shaman's repetitious earworm vocal out of your head for hours...Ma eh wa, Ma eh wa, Ma eh waaaaaa. No clue if that's spelled correctly in Na'vi, but those who know the ride, get the reference.

Welcome foolish mortals! There are few Disney attraction pre-shows as classic and iconic as the Haunted Mansion "stretching room." Whether it is the gloriously creepy tones of the score, the skin crawl-inducing yet buttery voice of the ghost host, or the ingenious physical transformation of the wall portraits and the stretching room itself, this pre-show set the bar high over fifty years ago when and the attraction opened in 1971.

I know what you're thinking..."Primeval Whirl? Really!?" To this I say 'YEP!"
Walt Disney World fans have long lamented the DinoLand USA area of Animal Kingdom. Aside from the Dinosaur attraction and the Restaurantosaurus dining location, DinoLand USA is far from impressive.
Two of the major plots of DinoLand USA are The Boneyard (basically a children's play area) and Hester and Chester's DinoRama (covering a significant portion of the land) which is essentially a local carnival recreation. This area features the Dumbo-clone spinner ride Triceratops Spin, a collection of carnival games, and the glorious Mouse Trap/Wild Mouse-clone ride, Primeval Whirl!
Opened in March 2002, Primeval Whirl had fallen into disrepair over the years due to a total lack of maintenance on Disney's part and it was mercifully laid to rest on March 15, 2020, just days before the Disney World closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This attraction was what it was...a fun little two-minute distraction while working your way through Animal Kingdom. Some part of me will miss it but it truly was below the level of what true Disney Parks fans should expect, especially for the prices we are all now paying in the "post-pandemic world."
At the D23 Expo 2022, "blue-sky" discussions were had for a replacement of the DinoLand USA area with a Zootopia-themed land. Whether this comes to pass and whether it happens in five or forty-five years remains to be seen.
In any case, the now extinct Primeval Whirl attraction is preserved forever (or until YouTube sells to another company for billions and makes everyone pay to repost their videos) here on the JoeDarthmaz channel.

Take a ride with Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, Brer Bear and tons of other critters in one of Walt Disney World's classic attractions...Splash Mountain. This part-log flume/part-dark ride has been a staple of the Magic Kingdom for thirty years. Based on a movie that has long generated contoversy, the attraction is scheduled for a re-theme and will most likely be closing soon for an extended period as it transforms in "Tiana's Bayou Adventure," scheduled to open in late 2024.
Joe Darthmaz has captured it in its current form and invites
you to take a journey to the Briar Patch, the Laughing Place, Slippin Falls,
and everywhere else you can stick an animatronic rabbit, fox, goose, frog, etc.

Often times, the pre-show of a Disney attraction is as
memorable or more than the attraction that follows it. Dinosaur is an example
of how endearing a pre-show can be and how it can evoke nostalgia, sometimes to
a greater degree than the attraction itself.
The Dinosaur pre-show is one of Disney Parks' best. It does a fantastic job of immersing you in the world of the attraction premise. Phylicia Rashad and Wallace Langham are featured in this pre-show, which for Disney World fans is full of quotable lines.
With the recent announcement that DinoLand at Animal Kingdom
may be replaced in the coming years with Zootopia and Moana themed areas, it is
more important than ever to preserve this pre-show for past, present, and
future fans of Dinosaur to enjoy!
So, take a trip with Joe Darthmaz to Dinoland at Animal
Kingdom and help Dr. Grant Seeker bring back one Iguanodon, extra-large. What
could go wrong?

Joe Darthmaz takes you back to spend some time with Stacey, the former Walt Disney World Resort TV host as she guides through the "Top 7 Must Sees" at Walt Disney World.
Stacey Aswad premiered on WDW Resort TV in 2005 in the "Must See" series, which was basically a thirty minute in-room commercial for Walt Disney World. She kept us company for over fifteen years, as the "Must Sees" became the much longer tenured and much more well-known "Must Dos" of Walt Disney World.
Sadly, in 2021, Disney removed "Must Do Disney" from Resort TV and we were all forced to say goodbye to it and to Stacey. But you can still see her here at Joe Darthmaz.
Being the lunatic that I am, in 2008, I set up a camera on the bed and recorded nearly the entire "Must See" loop. Small edits were made to remove me passing in front of the TV. Also, please forgive the talking that can be heard in the background in one small section. I made an attempt to edit it the sound, but it's fourteen-year-old non-HD video.

Every day, throngs of people take photos of or in front of Cinderella's Castle at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. Thousands gather in front of the castle to watch fireworks each night. However, many of them don't know that there is a restaurant inside the castle, where you can enjoy a (rather pricey) meal hosted by the legendary princess herself.

Before there
was a Galaxy's Edge (or even a Star Wars Launch Bay,) there was Star Wars
Weekends at Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World and several other
Disney Parks. Star Wars Weekends was a celebration of the legendary franchise
which took place on five consecutive weekends in the late Spring/Summer and
featured a celebrity motorcade, Star Wars character meet and greets,
merchandise offerings, themed dining experiences, and an evening-ending
fireworks show. The motorcade and panel interviews would feature celebrities
from the Star Wars universe, most of whom were not the top tier talent, but
beloved by fans of the franchise nonetheless.
Joe Darthmaz was able to attend the event in the olden timey days of 2001 and had his trusty camera with him to capture some of the festivities for posterity. So today we bring you the panel interview with Kenny Baker, the actor who gave life to lovable astromech droid R2-D2 in the original and prequel trilogies.
The interview actually also featured Doug Chiang, current Vice President and Executive Director at Lucasfilm, who at the time was working as a design director on the prequel trilogy. Doug’s portion of the interview will be released as a separate video.
The video is over two decades old at this point and filmed in the days of cameras with minimal stabilization so bear with some of the shake and less than HD quality.

Who doesn't love Muppet Vision 3D from Disney's Hollywood Studios? This interactive experience merges 3D film, animatronics, 4D theater effects, live actors, and Disney Magic and wraps it all into a blanket of Muppet fun and humor, making it impossible to not leave the theater smiling from ear to ear.
But before you even enter the theater itself, you experience the pre-show, which some claim is one of Disney's best ever. It is decades old now and not necessarily a technological wonder, which is more a hallmark of recent pre-shows, but it is filled with the warmth, wit, and humor that is the calling card of the Muppet franchise.
There are so many segments of the pre-show that have become iconic and quotable to Disney Parks fans over the years. One such segment is brought to you hear by Joe Darthmaz. Sam Eagle's safety instructions features the always stoic straight man, Sam Eagle as well as other Muppet friends, including Rizzo the Rat impersonating another well know rodent...hmmm. This portion of the pre-show is one of my favorites and I hope it will bring a smile to your face, as it always does to mine.

Take a ride with Joe Darthmaz on the Disney Skyliner in stunning 4K!
Opened at the end of September 2019, the Disney Skyliner is an ariel gondola (cable car) lift system that connects Disney's Hollwood Studios, Epcot, and Disney's Riveria, Caribbean Beach, Art of Animation, and Pop Century resorts.
Approximately 300 gondola cabins, some wrapped in Disney themed character designs, glide above Disney property roads, waterways, wooded tracts, and resort areas, offering some of the most picturesque views in all of the vacation kingdom.
The Skyliner joins the the vast Walt Disney World transportation fleet, which transports millions of vactioners across Disney property each year for no cost...well, for now anyway.
Although a transportation system, the Skyliner really is much more as it can truly be considered an attraction in and of itself. If you have an opportunity to take a ride on the Skyliner, be sure not to pass it up.

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge was originally supposed to be a very interactive experience in which guests "lived their own Star Wars adventure." There was supposed to be interaction with characters, as well as a "reputation system" where you had an opportunity to have some of your interactions in the land follow you during your visit.
For example, your performance on Millennium Falcon Smuggler's Run was intended to be part of the reputation you built in as much as if you really banged up the old hunk of junk, you might catch some shade from cast members or characters in the land afterword.
However, many of the interactions and the reputation system were scrapped due to cost-cutting and have now all been neatly placed behind a $5,000 - $6,000 paywall at the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser. One of the few interactive elements, although it is mostly one-sided is the character experience at Kylo Ren's ship.
Kylo Ren and his duo of Stormtroopers appear periodically in front of his docked starship to harass and recruit gathered guests at Galaxy's Edge. A Kylo Ren character interacts with guests via a series of pre-recorded comments and hand gestures. It is definitely a unique photo and video opportunity and should not be missed during your time at Galaxy's Edge at Hollywood Studios.

One of the best things about Walt Disney World is the
attention to detail, the little extra touches that make something special and
memorable. While it seems that in recent years, some of that attention to
detail has been stripped away in favor of cost cutting, some of it still exists
in the Disney Parks.
One such example is the Dianoga interactive water fountain
from Star Wars Galaxy's Edge in Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World.
"What in the name of the Force is a dianoga?" you ask. The dianoga
was that one-eyed serpentine creature that ensnared Luke Skywalker in the Death
Star trash compactor in Star Wars and dragged him under the water nearly
drowning him. Just as we and his newfound companions Han, Leia, and Chewie had
all given up hope on the young moisture farm boy, he emerges from the floating
trash, released from the dianoga's clutches, as it fled, hoping to escape the
crushing walls of the compactor chamber.

travelers visiting the planet Battuu. Place your refillable mug under the
touchless water station and momentarily fresh, cool water will fill your mug.
However, you may not want to drink it after you realize, who resides in the
adjacent tank from which you mug is being filled.
It is of course, all a gag, but it is an example of the
small attention to detail touches that are the hallmark of Disney Parks and
have made them a step above themed entertainment anywhere in the world for over
half a century.

Join JoeDarthmaz on a full ride-through of the Mickey &
Minnie's Runaway Railway attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Walt
Disney World.
On August 13, 2017, Disney permanently closed "The
Great Movie Ride," the signature attraction of the original Disney MGM
Studios theme park to replace it with Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway, but
maintained the facade of the building which is a replica of the famous Chinese
Theatre located on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California.
Many hardcore Disney fans were upset with the closure of the
Great Movie Ride, which was a true masterpiece of Disney Imagineering and
contained a number of audio animatronic figures never again matched in any
Disney Park across the globe.
While a very different type of attraction than the Great
Movie Ride, Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway is unique and modern and an
attraction that can be enjoyed by guests of all ages. It is also one of very
few attractions throughout the history of Disney Parks to be dedicated to company's
mascot, the Mouse himself. So, if you can't get Walt Disney World, or haven't
